The Molecular Universe
A Celebration of the Research Interests of
Phil Solomon on His 65th Birthday
7-8 June 2004
Stony Brook, New York
Announcement
An international conference will be held at The Sunwood Estate, at Stony
Brook on Long Island, to highlight the research that has been carried out
at Stony Brook over the past 30 years and to celebrate the 65th birthday
of Distinguished Professor Philip Solomon. The theme of the conference is
meant to reflect Phil's wide range of research - from his early
theoretical work of the theory of interstellar molecular hydrogen
photodissociation and abundance, and his work on mass loss from hot stars,
to his role in the discovery and interpretation of the properties of Giant
Molecular Clouds in our Galaxy and in nearby ultraluminous infrared
galaxies, and his most recent research on the properties of molecular gas
in the distant universe.
