What's New and Recent
- If you are attending Cool
Stars 17 between June 25-29, 2012 in Barcelona, come by
the splinter session on Clouds in Brown Dwarfs and Giant Planets!
- Spring 2012: I am teaching the joint graduate/undergraduate
Astronomy lab PHY 517 /
AST 443: "Observational Techniques"
- December 2011: Dr. Aren Heinze joined my research group
as a postdoc! He will lead the analysis of
the data from the Spitzer Cycle 8 Exploration Science Program
"Weather on Other Worlds." Ari is also a
published science
fiction writer!
- May 2011: The Stony Brok-led "Weather on
Other Worlds" Spitzer Exploration
Science program has been approved for Cycle 8! Over the course
of 873 observing hours with Spitzer, we will look for minute
variability in the light curves of brown dwarfs to study the
longitudinal and vertical distribution of their cloud decks.
- February 2011: Stony Brook has become a partner in the
Palomar 200-inch telescope, with a 6% share.
