It can be important to see what we are talking about. You will have an opportunity to observe the heavens from the Mount Stony Brook Observatory (the 14" telescope on the roof of the ESS building).
The 14" telescope will be open for public viewing one day a week while classes are in session (except when the moon is full). Sessions start about 1 hour after sunset, and will last about an hour, depending on demand. The viewing schedule is located here.
These observation sessions are optional. You may come and go as you please.
Directions to the Mount Stony Brook Observatory: Take the stairs to the roof. Note that the stairwells at the ends of the building only go up 3 floors: use one of the 2 stairwells that go to the 4th floor, and then proceed up one more flight to the roof. If you prefer not to walk, take the elevator to the 4th floor, and then go to the stairwell at the end of the corridor (either direction) and go up one flight to the roof. Do not crowd into the elevator; it sometimes gets stuck when full.
